Pain Management

Acumiho - Digestive Health

The art of acupuncture has been used in Asia for centuries to treat many conditions and offer relief in pain management. Now in a world where pain from the rigors of everyday life exists on a day to day basis we can see acupuncture being used to ease everything from low back pain, to nerve pain (such as painful shingles rashes), to headaches, fibromyalgia, and menstrual cramps and more. Traditional Chinese acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely fine needles into the skin at specific “acupoints.” This may relieve pain by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killing chemicals, and by affecting the part of the brain that governs serotonin, a brain chemical involved with mood.

Acumiho - Pain Management

Acumiho Acupuncture and Moxibustion draws upon this knowledge adopting various styles and techniques from gently turning or twirling the needles to stimulate specific points or apply heat to enhance the effects to burning small “cones” of therapeutic herbs called Moxa near the skin, this process and its benefits can be explored more in depth on her dedicated Moxibustion page. Acumiho also advises clients on treatment courses which may have from 6-12 session over a 3 month period to maximise the treatments effects.
